DEBATE
I choose the teaching method debate because this form of instruction allows the students to develop critical thinking. The instructor has a perception of the student’s issues, interactions and involvement on a certain topic. Debate allows for a different viewpoint than would a paper. Debate allocates for a greater sense of accomplishment. Some of the purposes of a debate form of teaching method are as follows:
Prepares to doubt or challenge
To persuade
To Clarify
To consider
To discuss
To state your position with proof
Enhances critical thinking
Improves oral communications
To express professional opinions
To gain experience in speaking
Some of the difficulties associated with debate are:
Lack of preparation
Nervousness
Anxiety
Time constraints
In conclusion, Debate enables for free flow of ideas. The goal of a debate is to improve communication and library skills and in general analytical skills. Debate enables for the exercise of freedom of speech. No way does debate solve a problem of the topic, nor does it come to a conclusion. Debate simply allows for the facts or information to be heard by participants and thus enabling them to make a decision from the given viewpoints.
